Rebuilds & migrations

Rebuild it without losing what you've earned.

Plenty of businesses redesign their website and watch their enquiries disappear. It's almost always the same cause: nobody mapped the old URLs, and Google lost every page it had indexed.

In short
We rebuild websites with a full URL map and redirect plan, preserve or improve existing page content, fix the speed and structure problems, then monitor Search Console after launch.

Signs your website needs rebuilding

How we migrate safely

1. Crawl and record the old site

Every URL, title, heading and indexed page captured before anything changes, along with current rankings and Search Console data.

2. Map old to new

Each old URL gets a destination. Where a page is being merged or dropped, it redirects to the closest genuinely relevant page — never everything to the homepage.

3. Rebuild and improve

Faster pages, proper service structure, schema, analytics — and content kept or strengthened rather than thrown away.

4. Launch and monitor

Redirects tested, sitemap resubmitted, crawl errors watched for weeks afterwards so anything unexpected is caught early.

Common questions

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Not if the migration is done properly. Every existing URL is mapped and redirected, page titles and content are preserved or improved, and we monitor Search Console afterwards. Rankings are lost when people skip that work.

Can you keep my existing design?

Yes, if you like it. Often the design is fine and the problem is speed, structure or the platform it sits on.

My site is on Wix / Squarespace / WordPress — can you move it?

Yes. We rebuild off any platform, keep your content and set up redirects so nothing breaks.

How long does a rebuild take?

Usually two to four weeks, because the content already exists. Larger sites with hundreds of URLs take longer to map properly.

Not sure whether to rebuild or repair?

Send us the website. We'll tell you honestly which one makes sense — sometimes the answer is that it's fine and only needs SEO work.

In more depth

The practical detail

What Happens to My Content and Pages?

During a rebuild, we don't just move your content; we audit it. We sit down and analyse every page on your old site. Using data from Google, we see which pages are actually bringing in visitors and which ones are just gathering dust. It's a practical assessment of what's earning its keep.

Often, businesses have lots of very short, similar pages. For example, a garage might have separate pages for 'brake pad replacement', 'brake disc fitting', and 'brake fluid change'. We would often recommend merging these into one strong page about 'Brake Repairs'. This is easier for a customer to read and gives Google a much clearer, more authoritative page to rank.

We also look at how old your content is. A blog post from six years ago might contain information that's no longer accurate. Instead of just copying it across, we'll flag it for a rewrite. The aim is to make sure every single page on your new site is useful, relevant, and working hard for your business.

It's Not Just About Google, It's About Customers

Keeping your Google rankings is critical, we get that. But a site that ranks well and doesn't convert visitors into customers is just a billboard in the desert. A rebuild is the perfect chance to look at your site through a customer's eyes. We focus on making the user's journey from landing on a page to contacting you as simple and obvious as possible.

This means looking at the small details that make a big difference. Is your phone number a clickable link on a mobile phone? Is your contact form short and to the point, or does it feel like a tax return? Are your services explained clearly, without the industry jargon you use internally? These are the things that decide whether someone picks up the phone or just clicks the back button.

A good user experience directly leads to more enquiries. When people find what they need quickly and trust what they see, they are far more likely to get in touch. We build websites for human beings first. The good news is that search engines like Google are getting smarter and now reward sites that provide a great experience for people.

Should I Repair My Website or Rebuild It?

Think of your website like a vehicle. Sometimes it just needs a service and a new set of tyres to run perfectly. Other times, the chassis is rusted and the engine is burning oil. In that case, no amount of tinkering will fix the underlying problems. We'll give you an honest opinion, just like a good mechanic would.

A repair is often the best option if the foundations are good. For instance, if your site is built on WordPress but it's just running slow, we can usually fix that with performance optimisation. If the design feels a bit tired but the structure is sound, we can give it a refresh without starting from scratch. Adding new pages or services is also a repair job.

A full rebuild becomes necessary when you're throwing good money after bad. If your site is built on an obscure or outdated platform that no longer gets security updates, it's a liability. If it's a tangled mess of conflicting plugins that breaks every time you update one, it's time for a clean start. Patching up fundamental flaws is a short-term fix that will only cost you more in the long run.

Which Platform Is Best for My New Website?

The number of website platforms out there can be overwhelming. You see adverts for Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, and hear people talking about WordPress. The truth is, there's no single 'best' platform for everyone. The right choice depends entirely on your business and what you need your website to do. We don't push a favourite; we recommend the right tool for your specific job.

For most service-based businesses in the UK, we find that a professionally built WordPress site gives the best long-term value. You have complete ownership and control over it, and it can be expanded to do almost anything as your business grows. When built correctly by someone who knows what they're doing, it's fast, secure, and not the complicated system you might fear.

If your main goal is selling products online, a platform like Shopify is often a more direct solution. For very unique requirements, custom development might be on the table. The most important step is the first one: we talk to you about your goals. We plan the build based on your needs, rather than trying to fit your needs into a platform we prefer.

Our Approach: A Mechanic's Eye for Detail

Our founder trained as a motor mechanic in Fife before moving into web development over 15 years ago. That background still shapes how we work. You can't fix a modern car engine by just guessing; you follow a diagnostic process. We apply that same systematic, practical mindset to rebuilding websites.

We rely on rigorous checklists and modern software to manage every project. This methodical approach is how we ensure nothing gets missed, from mapping every old URL to testing every button on the new site. As our founder has ADHD and dyslexia, building and following robust systems isn't just a preference, it's fundamental to how we deliver consistent, error-free work. It turns a potential weakness into a major strength.

This means we look beyond the obvious. We're not just making it look good; we're checking the wiring. We diagnose why it's slow, we check that it's structurally sound for Google, and we make sure the controls are simple for you and your customers. We build websites that are reliable, do the job they're supposed to, and won't let you down.
