Websites For Builders

Building work is a big, nervous purchase. The website's job is to remove doubt: real projects, clear process, straight answers about cost and timescales.

In short
We build project-led builder websites where each type of work has its own page and each completed job can be written up as evidence.

What usually holds these websites back

How we approach it

01

Work-type pages

Extensions, loft conversions, renovations, new builds, groundworks — separated so each can rank and each can be understood.

02

Project write-ups

A short case study per job: what was needed, what was done, what it involved. Strong for both customers and search.

03

Process and reassurance

Insurance, guarantees, timescales and how quoting works, stated without waffle.

Common questions

Can you add projects myself later?

The practical detail

How Do I Get Found in My Local Area?

Customers don't just search for "builder". They search for "builder in Cupar" or "extension specialist Fife". If your website doesn't mention the specific towns, villages, and counties you work in, Google has no reason to show you to those customers. Being specific is the most important part of getting local enquiries. It's not enough to be good at your job; people nearby need to be able to find you.

We make sure your website clearly states your service area. This isn't just a sentence in the footer. We can build dedicated pages for the main towns you serve, like "Our Work in St Andrews" or "Renovations in Dunfermline". Each page can feature jobs completed in that specific area. This tells both customers and search engines that you are the relevant, local choice for them. It's a simple idea, but it's the foundation of getting consistent, local leads.

Your website works hand-in-hand with your Google Business Profile (the map listing). We ensure your site is structured correctly so that Google can connect the two. When someone sees your business on the map, they'll click through to a website that confirms you're the right fit for them, with clear project examples and service details. This creates a strong, trustworthy local presence that your competitors probably neglect.

What Photos Do I Need for My Builder Website?

You don't need to hire a professional photographer. Your phone is more than capable of taking the photos we need. The trick is to know what to capture. The goal is to show the transformation and the quality of your work. The best time to take 'before' shots is right at the start, even if the site is a mess. It provides a powerful comparison point for the finished job.

During the project, take photos of the key stages. Pictures of tidy foundations, straight brickwork, complex roof structures, or neat first-fix wiring show the quality that's usually hidden at the end. These 'in-progress' shots build a huge amount of trust. They prove you know what you're doing and you don't cut corners. Try to take photos in good daylight and hold your phone straight. Capture a mix of wide shots showing the whole space and close-ups of details you're proud of.

Once the job is finished and you've cleaned up, take the 'after' shots from the same angles as the 'before' shots if possible. This makes for a great comparison. Send us the full-size images straight from your phone. Don't worry about them being too big or slow; that's our job. We optimise every single image to ensure it loads quickly without losing quality, which is crucial for keeping visitors on your site.

Building Trust Before They Even Call You

A nervous customer looks for proof that you're a real, professional business. A slick design helps, but it's the small, factual details that really build trust. We call these 'trust signals'. They are simple things you can display on your website that instantly answer the questions a potential customer might be worrying about. It's about being transparent and showing you have nothing to hide.

Start with the basics. Your website should clearly show your company's registration number and your VAT number if you're registered. If you have a physical office or yard, displaying the address is a strong signal. Next, add details of your public liability insurance. You don't need to upload the whole document, but stating that you have it and who it's with is reassuring.

If you're a member of any trade bodies like the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), or have accreditations like Gas Safe or NICEIC for your team, their logos should be on your site. These are third-party endorsements of your quality. We make sure these signals are placed in prominent positions, like the header or footer of every page, so a visitor can't miss them. It all adds up to a picture of a business that is professional, accountable, and safe to hire.

A Simple Plan for Project Case Studies

The project pages are the most powerful part of your website, but knowing what to write can be tough. We use a simple four-part story for every case study. It’s a formula that you can easily follow when sending us details for a new project write-up. It works because it mirrors the customer's own journey from having a problem to getting a solution.

First, start with ‘The Customer’s Problem’. Don't talk about yourself yet. Describe what the client needed. For example: "The homeowners in Kirkcaldy had a growing family and their three-bedroom house felt cramped. They needed a fourth bedroom and a larger living space but didn't want to move." This immediately connects with other potential customers who have the same problem.

Second, explain ‘Our Solution’. This is where you describe what you proposed. For instance: "We designed and planned a dormer loft conversion to create a new master bedroom with an en-suite. This would free up a room downstairs that could be knocked through to extend the kitchen." This shows you're a problem-solver, not just a builder.

Finally, describe ‘The Work & The Result’. Briefly list the key skills involved: "The project involved structural steelwork, a new staircase, full insulation, roofing, plumbing, and electrics." Then show the final outcome, supported by your photos. "The family now has a light-filled master suite, and the new open-plan kitchen-diner has become the heart of their home." This structure turns a simple gallery into a compelling story that sells your services for you.

Your Website is Built. What Happens Next?

A new website is like a new van. It's a fantastic tool for your business, but it doesn't bring in work just by sitting on the drive. To get found by customers, your website needs to be seen on Google. That process of actively helping your website rank higher for searches like "new builds in Fife" or "renovation specialist Edinburgh" is called Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO.

As our founder Robert knows from over 15 years of hands-on SEO work, consistency is key. The single best thing you can do is regularly add new project case studies. Every new project is a fresh piece of evidence for Google that you are an active, expert builder in your area. It also shows potential customers that you are consistently busy and trusted by others.

This is where our ongoing support comes in. A website is a starting point, but our monthly SEO packages are designed to build on that foundation. We handle the technical side, making sure your site stays healthy and fast, while also helping you get those project write-ups published and seen. For a fixed monthly cost, starting from £199, we do the consistent work needed to move you up the search results, turning your website from a digital brochure into a reliable source of new enquiries.
